I bet you're all expecting me to say what EVERYONE has been saying, right? Well, if you're here to read me ripping it apart...you've come to the wrong place. Because that's not what I'm going to be doing!

I really liked it!

I went in with an open mind, with low expectations, and because well, honestly? I have no connection to the source material. Even if I did, I would still have given it a chance. And I'm so glad I did. I'm glad I paid admission to see it.

It wasn't perfect. I think no movie is. I had nitpicks here and there, but nothing ruined it for me. I still enjoyed it.

Maybe I'm bias because I respect Tim Burton and his work very much. But really, I enjoyed it. Noooo, I wouldn't say it's his BEST work, but I think it's definitely not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I think there should be credit where credit is due!

I loved the sets. They were awesome. From the town, Colinswood, and oh, the setting. A seaside town in Maine. SQUEE! Major points of awesome for me, who is a sucker for those things.

Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, I thought he was great! I didn't go in there expecting him to be Jack Sparrow again. I expected going in there, seeing Johnny Depp, a great actor, do his best. And I thoroughly enjoyed him. It was nice to see him stepping into a role like this, to be honest! The acting on his part was great. He reminded me of his role as Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hallow really, just with more added in. I thought was a lot of fun, and some of his lines made me laugh. I thought he was really good for the role.

Eva Green as Angelique was pretty good too, and while she may have come off as the typical femme fatale villain, she did well in going between playing up as a modern day (For the time) business woman and the witch that she was. Part of the symbolism when it came to her was done pretty well, something I honestly hadn't seen coming. But I won't spoil it, but it did surprise me. Admittedly I'm none too familiar with Eva Green as an actress, having just seen bits of her here and there. But when I saw Welshy's review of Casino Royale....I mistook her for Rachel McAdams. XD

Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Hoffman, she was fun. She put on a very convincing American accent! Her character surprised me, it was something I hadn't expected. And while she did deserve something of a just desserts with what she did, I think it was overreaction in killing her. But then again, vampire, I guess! ....And the bit at the end, I saw it coming. But in a good way, at least for me.

Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth, now she was great. The acting with her was well done, and her character was surprisingly likable and really worked to hold the family together. Normally I'm not into characters like her, but she had a lot going for her.

Jackie Earle Hayley as the drunkard Willy. XD He was a fun character, I liked him.

Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters/Josette, I liked her character too. You didn't see much of her throughout, despite that she's one of the main characters, and while she didn't leave too much of an impact, I did like her. She was friendly, quiet and kind, but she wasn't bland. The twist with her did seem to work, at least it did for me. The romance she brought in with Barnabas was pretty nice, the way it all came together, it really wasn't that bad and I was, for once, not at all put back by the romantic sub-plot.

So overall, I enjoyed it! I liked the pop culture references (of the time, since it took place in the 70's), the humour, the story, the characters, I really just enjoyed it! Not the best movie I've seen, and not the best Burton epic, but I enjoyed it and I think it deserves more credit.

Overall really, it's great to see vampires that aren't Edward Cullen. Oh yes, he was NOT Edward. Yes, the brooding was there, and also feeling that the life of a vampire isn't a good thing, but there was a balance in there that I think made it work. And for that matter, he WAS a threat when he had to be.

And again, I liked the comedy. Not perfect, but I laughed. I enjoyed it.

So, looking forward to the next two Burton epics coming out this year!! Especially Frankenweenie!

Dur. xD

It was twice! Because he had not informed her of his plan of what he would do when he was burned. By reforming himself from the ashes (much like a Phoenix! XD) in a shady spot. Sally was of course distraught throughout the process and when she saw he planned it, she got upset and slapped him for it. Of course, to be fair, I think it worked to their advantage because then her reactions are authentic. If she knew about it, it would likely have been given away somehow.
